I see this bird every spring and summer. Our city is quite dirty, there are no forests, big birds do not live here. This bird sits in the middle of a dirty pond on something like a dam and just turns its head. It sits motionless for a long time and makes almost no sounds.
On July 26, for the first time I saw it not individually, but in a small flock, 6 birds. They had a slightly different color of feathers (as in the picture below). I haven’t heard them sing. they didn’t take off (but they can fly well, I saw when one was accidentally scared by something, it flew high, around and landed back).
There was grey heron sitting nearby, it was a little taller, so i think in a relaxed pose they are about 90cm tall.
I saw it from afar, there is no clear photo, but this is what I remember: black body, curved neck, straight beak, yellow (not curved like cormorants have), paws seem to be for swimming, tail is of medium length, no crest, plumage changes color between individuals only on the chest and belly (as in the picture).
Everywhere I tried to look, it told me that it was a cormorant. But it doesn’t look like a cormorant, and we can’t have it. Maybe it’s like a migratory bird? I just often see white swans and grey herons in the same place. or maybe it is some kind of cormorant?
I hope the drawing will at least help somehow
Thank you for any help you can give
(the second photo is the best that could be, sorry for such bad quality)
